Las organizaciones socias de la región trabajamos durante el año 2008 en la construcción de un Plan Estratégico de Incidencia para América Latina para los próximos tres años. Este Plan fue presentado, y luego aprobado, por los socios presentes en la Reunión Global TAI realizada en Sligo en octubre de 2008. El principal objetivo de este Plan es el fortalecimiento de la Iniciativa y los socios de la región, para lograr una mayor incidencia tanto en las políticas públicas como en la capacidad de dar mayor visibilidad a las temáticas que trabaja TAI en cada país.
U.S. bill to limit corporate influence in congressional elections

The U.S. Congress is set to introduce legislation designed to reinvigorate participatory democracy by implementing a small-donor approach to congressional campaign finance, challenging the status quo where elections are largely fueled by corporate- and lobby- based contributions. The Access Initiative (TAI) has long noted the value of keeping regular citizens at the heart of the democratic process. This legislative effort is commendable for its commitment to promoting an array of democratic principles.
New Access Rights Resource Available, Voz y Opcion: Abriendo la Puerta a la Democracia Ambiental

The TAI Secretariat, housed at the World Resources Institute, is pleased to announce the release of the Spanish translation of Voice and Choice: Opening the Door to Environmental Democracy. This report assesses the progress governments have made, in 26 countries, to provide access to environmental decisions, evaluates what hurdles remain and how they might be overcome.

More than 35 participants gathered in Cotonou last week for the official launch of TAI –Benin. The three-day workshop opened with remarks from Claudia Amegankpoue, Eco-Ecolo; Théophile Worou, Ministry of the Environment and Protection of Nature; Sophie Kutegeka, Advocates Coalition for Environment and Development and Linda Shaffer, World Resources Institute.
