Nuevo recurso sobre participación ciudadana / New public participation resource available
El Centro Ecuatoriano de Derecho Ambiental – CEDA se complace en anunciar el lanzamiento de su nueva revista institucional Derechos y Ambiente. Esta nueva iniciativa editorial busca a través del análisis y el debate generar espacios de reflexión y puntos de encuentro para fortalecer la democracia y la protección de los recursos naturales; y, ejercer nuestros derechos. Pensamos que promover y sostener las libertades democráticas es una de las demandas centrales del desarrollo sustentable y la protección ambiental.
Taller de Transferencia en Chile
En Santiago de Chile se realizó del 28 al 30 de abril el Taller de Transferencia de la metodología TAI para las coaliciones de Argentina y Chile. La coalición de Argentina está conformada por las organizaciones CEDHA, OAJNU y FOCO quienes aplicarán, además de la metodología general, los indicadores de agua y pobreza. Por su parte, la coalición de Chile se integra por Corporación Participa, CMA, Corporación Interés Público y MODEMA quienes aplican también los indicadores de pobreza.
TAI Partner Wins Prestigious Goldman Environmental Prize
Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Chief Executive of the Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers Association (BELA), has been awarded the prestigious Goldman Environmental Prize 2009 for the Asia region, recognising her public interest work in the conservation of the environment. BELA leads the TAI coalition in Bangladesh.
As Bangladesh’s leading environmental attorney, Rizwana’s legal advocacy for tighter regulations for the country’s environmentally devastating ship-breaking industry in particular, makes her one of six winners of the world’s largest prize for environmentalists this year.
Government negotiations for implementation of rights of access in Macedonia
TAI team in Macedonia and NGO Florozon started with the realization of numerous meetings with representatives of the government and the local self-government. Namely, at these meetings we discussed their willingness regarding the realization of some of the recommendations from the national research as well as the improvement of the state of the environmental national system. The team held separate meetings with representatives from the Ministry of Environment, the ombudsman, the NGO sector and the local self-government.
